In this moment…

No matter what the current moment brings, "this too shall pass " is what a wise man once said. It is a universal truth, much like the law of gravity. Every second will pass by as there is nothing that can hold it back. Or is it?

If the now has passed, leaving no trace behind, why do we see this as a timeline? It feels like we are jamming this instant by recalling our yesterdays and inviting our imaginative tomorrows. Without the remnants of the past or the future visions, is the "now" void?

The present moment has no emotional traits, no characteristics, no flaws, no strengths, no prejudices, nothing that can support its existence. Yet, it propels the next second into reality. The only reason this moment exists is to conduit the previous to the next.

Whenever I slip into deep trouble, I question the philosophy of “this too shall pass”. Contrary to this ideology, I experience infinity at this instant. Yet, it eventually fades away to a distant memory leaving trails into the current existence. A new mess happens, looping over and over again. It is no different when a delightful instance happens. The only difference is the happier times seem to end far too quickly than its counterpart.

When I hear the enlightened ones talking about living in the present, I am just in awe. They are confident and composed. People buzz around them like bees to a flower. They draw attention and have the ability to keep that intact. How does this work?

There are simple yet powerful techniques that have made it possible. Simple because it is easy to practice, powerful because it works every time. One such method has helped me many times. Breath with an intent to become fully aware of the situation and complete the following sentence.

"In this moment,....". As an example, "In this moment, I am frustrated". The combination of awareness and completing the sentence brings your focus to the current instance.
